Grand Canary Island II
Spain 2003

The Island was filled with stray cats everywhere.

A very religious island, one of the many churches.

Maria y Jesus!

Entering the providence of Mogan on the South / West part of the island.

No joke, this was the actual road that we took.  There was a
warning sign not to take in the rain.

This guy was quite a character, belting out Elvis and other songs.

Enjoying a quite dinner in Playa del Mogan.

Typical road showing the three layers of road down the mountain.

A quick stop and look out point.

If you look carefully you can see the shape of the volcano.

The volcano was active approximately 2,500 years ago.

Relaxing prior to our hike.

The stat of the hike to the center of the volcano.

The volcano from a top vantage point.

A Hawaiian Cloggy.

Prepared for the venture down.

I kind of messed up and missed a critical right turn.  We were
unable to turn back so we continued down the steep path.

Helena was not happy, and literally had to slide down certain sections.

The volcano had lose rocks the everywhere, which made the trip
down dangerous at times.

Looking up at the walls of volcano.

There was a single farmer living in the bottom crater.

The final leg of the path was almost straight down.

Looking across the floor of the volcano.

The path we took in black.

Stopped for a break on the path back to the top.

Excellent photo showing the shape of the volcano.

Interesting fountain.

A famous church in Las Palmas the Capital City.

Very typical Spanish architecture.

Helena getting ready for a night out on the town.

Looking down at the beach from the boardwalk.

Happy Cloggy.

Enjoying the view.

This is actually sand blown across the ocean from the Sahara
Desert in Africa.

The best filet mignon I've had in a while, with blue cheese and hollandaise sauce.
